Image Formation

: Projection of 3D scene onto 2D plane

: scene과 image간의 geometric and photometric relation에 대해서 이해할 필요가 있음 

- geometric : scene의 한 point가 있을 때, image에 어떻게 표현되는지의 관점

- photometric : scene의 brightness와 apearance가 image에서는 어떻게 표현되는지의 관점 

 

Topics : 

(1) Pinhole and Perspective Projection 

- 가장 기본이 되는, 역사가 긴 pinhole 카메라에 대해서 알아보겠음

- 물론 장점도 많은 카메라이지만 (can produce great clarity) 빛을 모으는데 문제가 있음 → 해결책으로 lens를 사용함

(2) Image formation using Lenses

- Len들의 속성들과 특징이 다양한데, 이에 대해서 모두 배워보겠음. 

(3) Lens Related Issues

- Lens가 완벽하게 만들어진다고 해도, geometric aberrations and produce distortions 라는 단점이 있음

- 이러한 Lens의 특징이 image에는 어떤 효과가 나타나는지, 해결방안으로는 무엇이 있는지 알아보겠음 

(4) Wide Angle Cameras

- unusually large fields of view (ex. hemispherical field of view)

- 이것은 perspective projection으로 해결이 되지 않아,

새로운 Lens를 디자인할 것임 → able to capture very large fields of view, combinations of mirrors and lenses
